Roseann Runte Scholarship for Bilingualism
Roseann Runte, Principal of Glendon from 1989-1994, supported academic
excellence in both French and English as a key to global understanding and
peace. Awarded to a new first year student who has high academic standing, extra
curricular activities and has demonstrated commitment to bilingualism.

Lester B. Pearson Entrance Scholarship
This scholarship commemorates the Honourable Lester B. Pearson, Prime
Minister of Canada from 1963 to 1968 and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in
1957. Awarded to a new first year student with high academic standing who comes
from west of the province of Ontario.

Living and Learning in Retirement 25th Anniversary Service
Bursary
Living and Learning In Retirement (LLIR) created this ursary to celebrae
their 25th year as active members of the Glendon community. Awarded to a new
full time student in exchange for community service in a Francophone or
bilingual setting in Toronto. Student must be a Canadian citizen/permanent
resident, have financial need and be a resident of Ontario.

Club Richelieu Service Bursary
Club Richelieu actively supports a number of social initiatives in the
greater Toronto area and throughout Canada. Awarded to a new full time student
in exchange for community service in a Francophone or bilingual setting in

need and be a resident of Ontario.

Omer and Norah Deslauriers, Franco-Ontarian philanthropists, were great

Harris Steel Entrance Scholarships
Awarded to 6 outstanding students entering Glendon from Alberta, British
Columbia or Quebec with a minimum entrance average of 80 %.

Escott Reid Entrance Scholarship
Awarded to an outstanding student entering Glendon College who has
demonstrated activity in international events through education, volunteerism or

Bank of Montreal Financial Group Scholarships
The BMO Financial Group Scholarships will be awarded to ten incoming
students applying to Glendon College from Canadian educational institutions
outside Ontario with a minimum admission average of 80 %. Five scholarships will
be awarded to students applying from Quebec and the remaining scholarships to
students applying form the rest of Canada (excluding Ontario). Recipients will
be Canadian citizens/permanent residents or protected persons and demonstrate
financial need.

Awarded to the student who has completed between 60 and 90 credits and has
the highest grade point average in the faculty.

Florence Knight Scholarship
Florence Knight was a member of staff of York University for seventeen
years. Her warm personality and high standards were an inspiration to the
students and members of faculty and staff who knew her. Awarded to a third or
fourth year student with high academic standing in at least two Sociology
courses and satisfactory overall academic standing.

Monica McQueen Scholarship in Economics
Monica McQueen was one of the first female students at the London School of
Economics. She had a life-long interest in higher education that extended to
Glendon. Awarded to the third or fourth year Economics major with the highest
average.

This award was established by the family of former Glendon student Adele

Awarded to the Canadian Studies major with the highest overall grade point
average at the end of second year.

The Encouragement Bursary for a Student in Psychology
Awarded to a deserving undergraduate in second, third, or fourth year
enrolled in a Psychology course at Glendon. Student must be Canadian
citizen/permanent resident, resident of Ontario and demonstrate financial need.
The student does not need to major in Psychology.

Albert V. Tucker Award
Professor Albert Tucker was Glendon’s second Principal and taught at the
College for 27 years. Awarded to a student who has completed a minimum of 60
credits with a better average in second year than in first year. Students must
be Canadian citizens/permanent residents, residents of Ontario and show
financial need. Renewable.

Miriam Fish Coven Award
This award was established in memory of Miriam Coven, a student at Glendon
from 1975 to 1981. Awarded to a second or third year female mature student
majoring in Multidisciplinary Studies (MDS) with at least 12 credits in MDS
completed and a minimum overall average of B+. Student must be currently
enrolled in 12 MDS credits.

Dr. Vivian B. Kirkpatrick Scholarship
Awarded to a full time 4th year female student enrolled in an honours French
degree (if Anglophone) or an honours English degree (if Francophone) with

Edward Appathurai Scholarship in International Studies
Professor Appathurai was coordinator of the International Studies Program at
Glendon where he earned the respect and friendship of his colleagues and
students alike. He was admired for his knowledge and understanding of the global
situation, his unique experiences, profound humanism and commitment to academic
pursuits. Awarded to the most outstanding student registered in the final year
of the International Studies Program with a minimum overall average of B+.

The IMASCO Awards for Glendon Students (11)
IMASCO is a diversified Canadian company based inMontreal that takes an
active role in supporting excellence in academic endeavours. Awarded to full

Awarded to two Glendon students whose financial circumstances are such that

Dr. Marion Hilliard Bursary for Mature Students
Dr. Hilliard contributed immeasurably to the health and happiness of
generations of Canadian women though her medical practice and her writings.

Roy Bennett Bursary
Roy Bennett is the former Chairman and CEO of Ford Motor Company of Canada.
He was the Chair of the York University Campaign from 1979 to 1982 and a member
of the Board of Governors from 1974 to 1987. Awarded to a Glendon student who is
a Canadian citizen/permanent resident who shows financial need and is a resident
of Ontario.

Andrew Forbes Memorial Award
This award was established to honour the memory of Andrew Forbes, a Glendon
graduate who was killed in 1993 while doing research in Uganda. His compassion
for others continues through this in memoriam award. Awarded to a refugee or
First Nations student in financial need. Student must show academic promise and
commitment.

Ian Bingham Memorial Award
Ian Bingham played basketball at Glendon with a group of his friends every
Saturday morning for 20 years. This award commemorates his commitment and
enthusiasm for sportsmanship and participation. Awarded to a student who
promotes Glendon sports activities at the local or inter-collegial level. The
candidate will have a respectable grade point average and be nominated by the
sports community.

Lori Ann Marshall Memorial Award
This award is in memory of former Glendon student Lori Ann Marshall. Awarded
to a student with a chronic physical illness who is in financial need.

This bursary will be given to a 3rd or 4th year undergraduate student in
Political Science, Canadian Studies or International studies at Glendon College
based on cumulative grade point average. To be eligible for the bursary,

and demonstrate finanical need.

This award is in memory of Violet Anderson, a published poet who enjoyed

This award was created in memory of Professor Cohen, a professor in
Glendon's Psychology Department for many years. Awarded to the Psychology major
with the highest grade in GL PSCY 4240 6.0 Advanced Experimental Design.

Escott Reid Bilingual Scholarship
Escott Reid was Glendon’s first principal, and a distinguished Canadian
diplomat. Awarded to the most outstanding student graduating from an honours
degree at Glendon with a Certificate of Bilingual Excellence. Student must be

Jean Burnet Scholarship
This scholarship was created in honour of Professor Jean Burnet, specialist
in Canadian Ethnic Relations, founder of the Glendon Sociology Department and
one of the leading members of the Friends of Glendon for many years. Awarded to
a graduating student who will proceed to graduate work with a specialization in
Ethnic Relations, Canadian Studies or Sociology.
